About Flag Ponds Nature Park:

Millions of years ago, sharks, whales, crocodiles and other creatures inhabited the waters and shores of the Flag Ponds Nature Park area. Visitors travel from far and near to hunt the shoreline for sharks teeth and other Miocene fossils.

In addition to fossil hunting, the park has two ponds, observation platforms for bird watching, a fishing pier, and a variety of trails that will take you on either a short hike to the shores of the Chesapeake Bay or on a longer journey through the woods.

No food is sold at Flag Ponds Nature Park, but you can picnic on the grounds.

BONUS:

The naturalists at Flag Ponds offer a variety of weekday homeschool programs for different ages, as well weekend programs for kids and families, including a Pirate Scavenger Hunt and bird watching.
